I wanted the 2.7l as well, but got the 2.3l instead. After 5,000 miles, I am happy with the power and get about 24mpg on the freeway. The Sport mode makes a big difference with more acceleration.

After 650 miles and two tanks of gas, my 2.3L is getting right at 24 mpg. Mostly freeway miles, but some stop and go in town driving.

What did you adjust? I have the same issue. Very difficult to close the hood, have to really slam it shut.
