I can only talk about the one I have (it was a prototype), the new one may be different. Things that are light and do not have much surface contact ares move a little. Heavy items, or large surface items seem to stay in place well.

Same thing happen to me yesterday for the 1st time, driving to Sioux Falls SD on I29. The only reason I can come up with as to why it came on was that the road still had some frost and it was foggy as well. Maybe the lane assist was having issues seeing the stripes on the road.
