I was in the 1st 4 wheel and offroad nationals in 1982, have 1 trophy and a dash plate. Missed out by 1/10th of a second of having pictures of my truck in the magazine! Dang Jeepers! Entered my 19 Lariat in there 40th, should've won best detailed and best Ranger as I was the only one entered. Wanted to get a free run on the dyno but it broke...

Wow, that's quite an impressive history in off-road competitions! It's a shame you missed out on having your truck featured in the magazine by just a fraction of a second. It sounds like you put a lot of effort into detailing your Lariat for the 40th nationals, so it's disappointing that you didn't win. Hopefully, you'll have better luck next time and get that free run on the dyno! Keep up the great work and keep pushing the limits in off-road competitions. :fistbump:

Thanks!

I used to have a whole album of pics from the event but lost em in the divorce ??

But here's my evidence. They took pics of all of the participants trucks as they entered the fairgrounds, bought a Keychain with the pic and was able to get this pic out of it. 1982 Datsun 4x4 Sport Truck, all show no go but thats me driving it. 18 years old. Body lift, new tires and wheels, sun shade and visor, rollbar, lights and other mods. Then my weathered participants dash tag, my 2nd place in the egg and spoon race, then my plate and dash tag for the 40th event. I still had my window pass on my windshield of my 2019 Lariat I traded.

Wow! Those are really nice photos! Always love to see some old stuff filled with good stories. I'm wondering if we have your permission to share those photos on our social media, sir? We can ask the official 4 Wheel Jamboree account to post with us together and tag you if you can kindly provide your social account.

Certainly do have permission. As far as tagging, I am not on Facebook but they can tag me here if possible. I have pics of my 2019 if they want it but thats the only one I have of my 1982.

That inaugural Jamboree was at Indianapolis, 1st one in the nation. There where 4x4s from all over the nation, even 2 Mustang Mach one's that where made into 4x4s. If I remember right that was one of the earliest years that Bigfoot was at an event with its 10 foot tall tires. Plus the original Bigfoot was there as well. They had obstacle races which is one I got the plaque for plus a mud bog and if you slowed down you sank deep.

Dan Hagerty was the grand Marshall, he did alot of beer drinking lol.

I bought this issue, the one i should've been in, blasted Jeep! I am showing my age, there's an article in it on how to convert your new 4x4 to automatic hubs! Kinda ironic that my new RR has throw back manual looking hubs as wheel centers, I was thinking about painting them to look old school.

Here is the original Bigfoot monster truck that started it all, a 1975 Ford F250.

My clean truck headed for the mud bog, and in the bog close to the end where I sank past my wheels lol didn't get to the end.
