Can you give me a refresher on what "Retail" and "Stock" mean ? I thought the order bank for MY 2024 Rangers was closed ?

Stock - Orders made by dealerships to add to their fleet based on the local area demand

Retail - Custom orders made by individuals wanting a specific vehicle, trim etc

So why would dealer's STOCK orders still be open - but RETAIL (orders) be closed ?

I ordered my Iconic Silver Ranger Raptor on April 23th no vin yet. I talked to my dealer on Wednesday and he told me that the factory was focusing more on the lesser trim models right now.

Great question!

Not too sure on that. Maybe @SubaruRaptor can answer ?

All orders for 24 rangers are closed for retail. Raptors closed back on August 1st and normal Rangers closed on August 30th. Stock orders can still be had because Ford needs to A. use up parts they have ordered as most of the parts were ordered in advanced based upon projections and B. for them to be efficient on the line they need to produce X amount of vehicles in a given time frame.

As of this week there are 595 unscheduled orders in the Retail order bank for the Ranger and about 600ish for the Bronco. Bronco order banks are still open as well. Ford has done the math to say remaining time in the year vs how many vehicles they can build in a day. Since they dont want to shut the factory down or slow down production too much as it takes time to re-align the plant. They will still take Stock orders so they can meet "production" demand.

Looking at some notes from the past couple weeks, it looks like they are trying tog et all the Raptor orders done and then start on the normal rangers for the rest of the year.

Your dealer would of been correct if this was about 2 months ago. They have been scheduling Raptor only for over a month now. They are finishing out Raptors for the year then working through the lower trims.
