Be careful with the tie down bolts. I used a T30 like the dealership recommended and one of the bolts snapped. Since then I learned that you can heat the bolt to soften the blue loctite. Drilling out the busted bolt and tapping it took several hours. Otherwise the bedrug install would have taken less than an hour.Looks great. I’m installing my BedRug this weekend. How did it go for you? Any tips? Thx.
Thanks. Yes, they recommend assembling it first and then installing it. Don't skip this step; the zipper is a hard to get on, but you only have to do it once. Once zipped up and placed in the bed, firmly mold it to the interior and ensure it fits properly. Remove it and you will see where you need to cut for the tow hooks or plug-in box. I would recommend a spray adhesive or more Velcro adhesive to fill the gaps that the kit does not provide. You will need extra for the tailgate and hull. I had a few spots where I had to apply extra adhesive. Finally pay attention to the temp of install, make sure you are at least 70 degrees. In Colorado it was a breezy day and around 65 and found some of the adhesive did not stick well.Looks great. I’m installing my BedRug this weekend. How did it go for you? Any tips? Thx.
Thanks. I was planning to make slits for the tow hooks because I heard the locktite was a problem.Be careful with the tie down bolts. Also, the bed lights can be removed by using a small pry bar to release the tabs on the bottom of the light. When you remove the light, tie a string on the cable so the cable does not fall into the wheel well. The plate with the power does not need to have the power cable disconnected. You can just cut out the bedrug area where indicated and feed the plate thru the hole at an angle.
Use an awl to find the holes thru the bedrug and the bolts go in pretty easy.
Thanks for the heads up on the temp. We’re in a little cold spell. I may wait auntil it’s over.Thanks. Yes, they recommend assembling it first and then installing it.
