Dude . Did you read the whole thread or just part of it. Did you read the post you quoted at all thats an older fifth gen ?? If you read this whole thread you can look back at my post in this thread. The one you posted doesn't say anything about factory. And if you look his is like mine not painted. The factory one is painted the 2024 is body matched. That's the difference. Take your time before you make a statement. Especially an inaccurate one.

Did you read the whole thread I linked, because I read this whole thread and the whole thread I linked. You need to read the whole thread I linked. Specifically posts #11, #14, and #26.

Not sure if this was mentioned, but I think another difference between ‘24 and ‘25 is the connected services subscription (nav, WiFi, etc.) only comes with one year on the ‘25 vs 3 years on the ‘24.

As for the electronic shifter, while not as intuitive as a mechanical one, it’s still way better to me than my wife’s BMW shifty knob thing.

Dude . Take a look at who posted the picture. That was me . And it's not the factory one it's the dealer add on. That's the difference. Take your time before you make a statement. Especially an inaccurate one.
I’m no expert, but placing an electrical device where flammable fumes might exist seems unsafe to me.
Yes you are no expert.

Two shifters are used in the Ranger. A short stubby e-shifter that is not all that intuitive to use, it's approximately 4 inches high. Best description I can give you is it is more like a computer mouse that an old school shifter. It has buttons on the side which puts you on manual mode, the release is on the front side. After a couple of weeks I now can get it into gear mostly of the first try but reverse is still or miss. The long handled shift is not electronic like the short one. Very easy to shift into any gear with out looking. For 2025 it appears only the Raptors get the e-shifter, lucky us Raptor owners ☹. Never heard the reasoning behind the inclusion on Raptor.

bro you cant use the e-shifter??????

It's odd that they can remove a feature like park assist. Probably not something I would use myself, but the option would be nice.

I wonder if it could be retrofitted somehow. Ex. installing some board / wiring harness that has the parking logic.

When I first got my 24 RR I hated the short shifter. Now, it is one of my favorite things inside the truck. Very intuitive and very cool looking. I’m impressed with Ford engineer’s forward thinking.
I've had my RR 3 weeks , still getting used to the little shifter. I find it not all that intuitive as I drive 3 different vehicles with 2 having traditional shifters. Still hard to get into correct gear without looking at dash or shifter.

Don't they say you shouldn't talk on your cellphone while fueling up. Same thing. How many fires have been started by a cellphone?

Not the same. The factory one is wired. The dealer installed one is really a wireless remote with batteries that can't be replaced.
There are no longer factory keypad.

2024 were factory wired through a machined hole in the door and painted. 2025 dealer installed one is really a wireless remote with batteries that can't be replaced. If you had the keypad option installed at he factory they hooked up the keypad to the computer wired through the door and give you the key card when you pick up your car.
Incorrect. 2024 were factory wired through a machined hole in the door and painted. 2024 and 2025 dealer installed one, is really a wireless remote with batteries that can't be replaced.
This is completely false. None of the ranger keypads offered from the factory in 2024 were ever wired. They were all the same wireless modules, the only difference was the paint-matching.

Yes you are no expert.
...And apparently you are. Didn't know Ford made these as intrinsically safe.
Nothing unsafe about it.
Just curious, is that because there is no possibility of fumes from the fuel (which during fill up seems unlikely), or that the device itself is intrinsically safe? I'm genuinely interested as that does seem like a decent place for it out of sight.

I can use the e-shifter just not a fan If I had my way I'd have a manual transmission. Way more fun.
To me the e-shifter is an answer to a question no one is asking.

I think probably a bit of both. The device shouldn't be emitting any sparks given it's just a small battery with a very small load. But I also think the fuel cap prevents enough fume exposure that it would never be a problem. The fuel nozzle hole isn't the only air-escape in the tunnel, there is another one somewhere in there that helps prevent people from siphoning gas, which is why if you use a gas can you have to use that special nozzle behind the backseat.

Regardless many 5G ranger owners + bronco owners have had their module installed there since at least 2019 (when 5G came to the USA) and no one has had any issues that I know of. If it was a potential problem the dealership would not install it in that location for people.

Don't waste your breath. He's made it clear that he has no intention of admitting he is wrong and is just going to keep arguing about it.
