Watching the pros install my amp and subwoofer this morning made my anxiety skyrocket (three hours felt like forever!), but the final result is SO worth it – like, a thousand times worth it! $730 worth it (I already owned the subwoofer and box, but the cost covered a new amp, wiring, and labor).

The sound quality is unbelievably better.

I've turned down the factory JBL bass and the subwoofer is handling all the low-end frequencies. Plus, they installed a handy bass control knob in the aux panel, so I can easily adjust the subwoofer without fiddling with the amp.

And the best part? The subwoofer can be quickly disconnected and removed whenever I need extra cargo space.

SPECS:
*Rockford Fosgate - 250 Watt Mono Amplifier (R2- 250X1) [installed with Velcro - no drilling - in the empty cubby area between back seat and hybrid battery]
*Eclipse 10" Subwoofer #86100DVC [old school]
*Bass Control Knob [spec unknown]

excellent! I'm about to do the same thing although I'm also replacing all of the JBL speakers as well. I will be completely disconnecting the stock subwoofer and adding crossover controls also. Excellent photos by the way, I like that setup.

Have you looked into your door speaker replacements yet? I just ordered the Beat-Sonic plug and play but I have a JL audio 360W Amp and two older Earthquake 8" shallow woofers that I want to somehow build a customer under seat or low profile enclosure for.

I just picked up my Trailhunter on 5/12. I'll eventually replace the speakers...where did you guys find info on replacement speaker sizes/locations? Crutchfield is my usual go to, but they said they are still researching the hybrid model speakers...or any 2025 4runner. Thanks in advance.

I forgot to mention in my initial post to this thread ...Regarding aftermarket subwoofer installation, it's crucial to disable the artificial engine noise. Otherwise, that fake low-end engine sound will come through your new subwoofer (and is super annoying). You can have the dealership turn off the artificial engine noise, or you can do it yourself using a tool like the Carista OBD adapter, which I purchased (available on Amazon: https://a.co/d/jcmfn61).

I've been going to Pro Car Audio in Austin Texas for all my vehicles for the last 10 years, drove the 4Runner by there the other day and he is designing something for me. Only thing I have on me now is a front row crossover that I'll move over to it and a 10-in Infiniti sub in a box. When he did my Jeep Wrangler years ago that was the best audio I ever heard in a vehicle, used a German amp that I cannot remember the brand name of. If he can replicate that I'll be a happy camper. Your system sounds amazing.

Exactly what i needed. My sub i use to have in my 5th gen is sitting on the floor. Do you know which wires are spliced into at the factory jbl sub to get signal for the rca converter?

Unfortunately, I did not watch the install that closely. All I can tell you is that it was one of the wires that connects directly at the sub.

Helix amps? I had a system installed in my Jeep years ago as well. Had a Helix V Eight Amp + DSP and a Helix One for an Adire Audio Brahma 12. I plan on going the same route in the 4Runner. Those amps are absolutely incredible. Well worth the money if you can find someone that knows how to properly tune them.

Ah ok yea i know i did the same thing when i had a cayenne a few years ago off the factory sub. Not as clear of a signal as it would be from RCA from the head unit but functional.

Yes Helix is awesome, I've got experience with those. I'll keep that in mind as well.

Well that is def one way to get rid of the strange seatbelt tension area vibration during certain songs with the base over half way up :)
