Hi All. Sorry about ANOTHER dashcam thread, but I'm not finding what I need. Purchased myself a new lightning blue Wildtrak last week. I'm in the Caribbean, so the spec is a little different.
I'm looking for dashcams and seem to have narrowed down to two options. My primary concern is security when the vehicle is parked. Folks use their bumpers as park assist systems here and they use their doors like a blind man uses his cane. 3 days in, I have my first (small) dent in a door already. I'm not sure I'm going to achieve coverage on the sides, but I can at least catch the comings and goings right after if the park mode picks up a door strike.
1) The FitcamX. I like the way it integrates with the vehicle and looks stock. I really like don't the idea of crap glued on the windshield and wires everywhere. I have emailed with Fitcam on this and can't seem to get definitive answers. I'm quite concerned that this will sit in the driver's sight lines. I am average height and the mirror housing still sits quite low as it is. Does anyone have photos of one installed in a Next Gen Ranger? I have scoured google and Youtube and can only find Fitcam's photo, which I'm not even sure is accurate.
2) WolfBox G900 TriPro Bumper version. We have a lot of hills here. The island is one big mountain. I find myself cresting hills in a lot of tight spaces where the road can change direction before you can see it, so the bumper version adds a huge benefit. I read some threads about mounts to replace the stock mirror (rather than strapping over it) but the links to those mounts are all dead. Does anyone have a photo of it strapped in a ranger? I actually don't mind that as long as the visors work (we use those a lot), but I'd take the time to do a clean install if I could find the parts.
Happy to take ideas on this. This is a rare occasion for me where desire for form and for function sort of even out. I'll be happy to share photos of the install and comment on what I learn at the end. There are quite a few threads on here without conclusions!
