Recently a member (Muffin1) posted about using a convential muffler (not a cat back system) on a Ranger.
Excellent post and idea.

I've been reading about a Helmholtz resonator, and wondering if anybody has designed and/or using one?
Looks like it takes some knowledge of frequency's that the exhaust generates:
