I would love to see a full "disconnect from anything watching me" switch (that works) somewhere, especially given the rumors of Ford filing for patents to have listening devices in cars for data gathering purposes.
UH? you must be young, I was referring to the Movieindeed...I prefer to be connected as if it were really 1984..
Ha- i was referring to the book...UH? you must be young, I was referring to the Movie![]()
I also think the Telo is going to be similar concept. Though it's look is quite un-tradititional.Checkout the Slate. Sounds like it might be a perfect for someone who wants just the basics.

How do you like Consumer Cellular?I would love to see a full "disconnect from anything watching me" switch (that works) somewhere, especially given the rumors of Ford filing for patents to have listening devices in cars for data gathering purposes.
I have dash cam's on all of my vehicles, they have saved me trouble a couple of times, one where a woman was texting and rear ended me, claiming I brake checked her, dash cam clearly showed her on the phone. The other was someone cut me off clipping my front fender from a disappearing merge lane. Just showed the video clip to the Officer and he wrote the other guy up.I also think the Telo is going to be similar concept. Though it's look is quite un-tradititional.
Given that the Scout will be built on the Rivian software base that is highly connected, I am sure the Scout will run fine without connectivity in the boonies, but i doubt there will be any effort to design in a way to intentionally disconnect it, at least at first.
They need to deliver the thing on time. Maybe if enough people complain, once they are bringing in revenue, if they think they are missing enough sales to warrant it, they will design in that feature. It would probably be a software update. You'd never want it fully disconnected for things like system undates, but all the tracking and social stuff could be.
I'm concerned less about that and more how much data all new cars collect and store locally that could be extracted and potentially used against me in an accident.
Though I've about decided to go all in and get a dashcam as many daily stupid and illegal drivers I see today.
Yes I do. I want my vehicles to update when I want them to so that I’m not unexpectedly waiting for an update to finish before I can drive during an emergency or get bricked by a bad patch that requires a new update to fix. You'd never want it fully disconnected for things like system undates, but all the tracking and social stuff could be.
Well hopefully they aren't running Microsoft and using Crowdstrike as an AV. lolMaybe I worked in the financial IT sector for too long but automatic updates scare me.
