It's hard to have everything in one car! My Bronco has a 3500# tow rating. If I want more, my F150 was excellent. And add in electric vehicle requirements, a Ford Lightning has a high tow rating . . . And lasts only 150 miles before running out of power! So we add a range extender, and that is what reduces towing capacity . . . At least you know what's important to you.I said in a prior post that I would update once I got this done. So here it is.
Because Scout dropped the 10,000 pound towing capacity to 5,000 pounds for the Harvester, I canceled both of our reservations. We had one in for the Traveler Harvester, and one in for the Tara Harvester. We went and put a deposit down on a competitor’s vehicle that we get in two months.
To those still in the game, I hope you enjoy your new Scout in 2027/2028!
Finally, to Scout. If you come out with a retro or heritage model of the Scout where the entire roof comes off and it looks like the old-school Scout, and it tows 10,000 pounds, then we will be back. The ball is in your court.
The Harvester is the hybrid option.Crazy with all these $100 reservations being cancelled. These vehicles are 2-3 years away from completion, it’s only $100. With that said, there will be so many more changes to come. I’ve even heard of a Hybrid option, who knows. To the nice people who have cancelled, Thank You, I’m moving on up the list!
The generator might be Scouts answer to a Hybrid, but rumors are swirling. The Harvester is the hybrid option.
Actually not, as it’s in no way directly connected to the drive system like other hybrids. The Harvester is the hybrid option.
Actually, it is. Scout is a series hybrid rather than a parallel hybrid.Actually not, as it’s in no way directly connected to the drive system like other hybrids.
well, you can call it anything, but to me it is just an EV with a gas generator, I guess you could throw a generator in the bed of a lighting and call it a hybrid.Actually, it is. Scout is a series hybrid rather than a parallel hybrid.

Engineers determine what to call it, not me. It's okay to learn something new or admit you're mistaken about something.well, you can call it anything, but to me it is just an EV with a gas generator, I guess you could throw a generator in the bed of a lighting and call it a hybrid.
I agree with you; it is an extended range EV. Not really a hybrid. Even on Scout's website they say it is not a hybrid.well, you can call it anything, but to me it is just an EV with a gas generator, I guess you could throw a generator in the bed of a lighting and call it a hybrid.
So? Will you admit you were mistakenEngineers determine what to call it, not me. It's okay to learn something new or admit you're mistaken about something.
What was I mistaken about? An EREV is a hybrid. There isn't one kind of hybrid. So? Will you admit you were mistaken![]()
I read that. I'm sure if you asked the Scout engineers they would reluctantly acknowledge that it is a hybrid. That term is confusing to many people, including you apparently. Most people think of a parallel hybrid when the term hybrid is mentioned. That's understandable. Parallel hybrids like Toyota and Honda use are very common and popular. But they're not the only hybrid. Not even Scout calls it a hybrid, follow the link to Scout faq page provided by @MTN COLT above.
