I've made a backup of all ECUs in my Wildtrak before touching anything in FORScan.
I have also downloaded an As Built .ab file from Ford Motorcraft Service based on my VIN number.

However, I'm new to this and I'm a bit suspicious that the Motorcraft As Built file is not complete.

This is the last two lines of the .ab file:
<ERROR><ERRORCODE>612</ERRORCODE><ERRORMSG>PCM DATA NOT FOUND</ERRORMSG></ERROR><ERROR><ERRORCODE>614</ERRORCODE><ERRORMSG>CCC DATA NOT FOUND</ERRORMSG></ERROR></VEHICLE></AS_BUILT_DATA>

Does this look okay? I assume I should take those error messages seriously and be cautions about the file. If it is not correct, how do I go about getting the full correct file?

Excuse me if I'm completely off-track as I don't even know where the track is right now.

Found this ( http://compulsivecode.com/Project_AsBuiltCompare.aspx ) to compare the backup As Built .ABT files and the Motorcraft As Built .AB file.

I have found the backups I made have more data in them than the Motocraft file.

What is the Motorcraft file for then? It seems like its incomplete.

I had a similar experience on my F-250 in that the .abt files had more data than the .ab from motorcraft. Perhaps the as built files are the minimum coding needed? I don’t have additional info as I never had to resort to a restore. I was also careful to document all changes prior to coding them.

Interesting. So it's not just me. It would make sense that it's only critical parameters for the basic function of the vehicle. The rest would be custom coded per vehicle per options, region, regulations..

I too have not had to restore, and do track all changes, but would like to know if I do screw something up somehow, I can safely go back with the Motorcraft file. I know I can with my own backups but would still like the stock Ford option to be whole and to understand what it really is.
