The "Power Step" running boards raise with such force that they slam into the bottom of the rocker panel on the motor side of each board. You can see the marks and dents as a result of this impact in the photos.

RealTruck's response was: "Try jumping up and down on that side to bend them down".

They should have an adjustable stop on that side of the boards.

Seriously, that was their answer......... Would it be possible to put washer spacers between the mounting points on the truck and the running board mounts to add additional room?

You can’t shim the rear because the two mounting bolts are 90deg off or perpendicular on the Ranger.

You could glue some thin pieces of rubber to the bottom of the rocker panel where it's hitting to protect the rocker shutz.

I have some rubber squares I picked up at Home Depot, let me see if I can find the link.

I mean that would do the trick, but that is only treating the symptom and not the problem. I was considering them for my RR but without the ability to make adjustments, I am out.

Appreciate the heads up on these.

I'm thinking about spending my hard earned money on retractables, mainly so my elderly mother can get in the truck. Maybe I'll just get a set of small steps like I used with my '19 Ranger.

I put amp power steps on my 2020 tundra trd pro and had no issue. I want to add them to my 2024 ranger raptor. Hopefully it's just an issue with steps you got. Maybe something wasn't made right.

At some point I believe Amp Research changed their design from tucking under to covering the rocker panel.
These mounts are well machined and probably all exactly the same, they just haven’t considered slight modifications in the next generation Ranger.

Fixed!
I cut a POM plastic Block 1-7/8 x 1-1/2 x 9/16 from a wear strip acquired years ago and Drilled a 3/16 hole in the step mount. Attached with #10 x 1-1/2 machine screw.

Fits like a glove and stops the step at the perfect height. 1 block on each side next to the motor.

Hello, I realize that I am late to this discussion, but I am curious about limiting the motor bracket travel with this spacer. It seems that the motor would have a “Home Position” programmed into the system and I am curious as to whether your steps still extend and retract the same as before the modification?

The running boards have sensors to detect weight and pressure (for safety purposes), they turn off when they stop moving. They are not designed to reach a specific location!
I love them and so does my 86 year old Dad.

They caused dammage to your truck though. If you attempt to sell it, a careful buyer, or a dealer will notice. Some compensation ought to be discussed.

You’re right, I should give them a call.
I forgot all about this until today, when I received the email about this thread!
