I drove my Ranger out to Paint Mines Interpretive Park on the Colorado plains to take some photos of the formations, as well as the surrounding area.

Of course I also had to take a few photos of my Ranger while I was out there.

Thanks, I'm honestly surprised it stayed as clean as it did after driving down the dirt road to get there.

Beautiful! Is camping allowed in the park or if I brought my trailer could I "camp"?

Because of how delicate the geological features are I know you can’t camp inside the park, but I think there are a few places nearby where you can, including an RV park.

The park is only opened from sunrise to sunset, and being there after dark is only allowed with a permit. I’m actually in the process of getting one, since I’m planning to go back in about a month to do some astrophotography there.

That looks great. I'll have to stop there on my way to visit son and family in Denver area. It looks similar to Little Jerusalem Badlands State Park and Monument Rocks in West Kansas. I'll post up some pics in a bit. Access is on dirt roads that are ok when dry. Back when I had my 19 ranger 4x4, I found out that in West Kansas, county roads are many times dirt paths thru patures. Very tough when wet, think 4 to 6 inches of wet silt at the bottom of a farm pond. Ugghh
