still, the way that even the new cars have it, i might have to wait until it gets a little louder. even the dealer wasn't too eager to jump to book my replacement, might be hinting me to hold off if i can?

Find another dealer? I have found Ford dealers to be the absolute worst in the business so it is important to get a good one if you can.

not really. i tested like 3 other brand new units at the dealer/service center. cold start, all have basically the same sound, at the same volume.

i've chalked it down as 'normal' for the time being, but will continue monitoring for any changes, like if it gets louder or anything.
