I've been trying to get into that habit too. If I don't wear gloves I find myself washing my hands 10 times during the job with harsh chemicals in my garage.Typically if I’m doing anything too grimly I’m wearing gloves anywayso that’s not really an issue for me
im 5’7” with and the truck has a 2” lift and 35s lol I can still reach up and grab the latch LMAOWhat do these do for closing the hood? One of my other vehicles has struts from the factory and they do a great job. When I’m done, I can just grab the latch and “slam” it down from there. Works great. Don’t have to touch the exterior paint.
I’ve had another vehicle that didn’t have struts from the factory, and similar to the Ranger, needed to look into the aftermarket. Try as I might, it ended up being impossible to find struts that find the balance between strength to lift/hold and ease of closure despite claims.
Also, how is it closing the hood with it now raised 4 inches higher? I’m probably 5’10” with a Raptor. No one wants to grab a step stool to close their hood![]()
I used to be against gloves in the garage but it’s been a game changer lol.I've been trying to get into that habit too. If I don't wear gloves I find myself washing my hands 10 times during the job with harsh chemicals in my garage.
I just put a new engine in my Bronco and did an oil change on my RR so hopefully I'm done with dirty jobs for a while.I used to be against gloves in the garage but it’s been a game changer lol.
I’ve gone through enough Mojo in my life.
I’ve put hood struts on pretty much every vehicle I’ve owned, so this was one was obviously going to make its way on the truck too. For around $100, it’s just one of those upgrades that feels like a no-brainer. I went with the Redline Tuning hood strut kit for the 2024 Ranger If you watch my video and check the product page you’ll get the full rundown, but here’s what stood out to me:
No more dealing with the prop rod and it just feels cleaner and more modern. Small mod, but makes a big impact.
- Really straightforward install, took maybe 20 minutes (if that)
- Made in America
- Struts are tuned for the truck, so no excessive stress on the aluminum hood
- 4–5 year warranty (depending on the version you get)
- Hood opens about 4.5" higher than the stock prop rod
Nice. I just ordered a set for mine. Thanks for the information.

Did you stick with the stainless steel or did you also get the carbon sleeves as well?Happy to help!
I just got the "Plus" system with the regular black struts. The carbon sleeves are just for looks - I just don't have carbon anywhere else on the build so wouldn't really match. The stainless steel "Elite" system is a good upgrade with a bit more warranty for like $40 more - really just preference between the elite and plus.Did you stick with the stainless steel or did you also get the carbon sleeves as well?
Copy that. Yep. I went straigh to the elite, and probably should have looked at the plus before buying, but I am good with the aluminium, don't know if I will use the carbon sleeves, but it's nice to have them if I want to change the look. Ordered on Monday, out for delivery now, and will be installed before it gets dark. No more prop rod! Nice!I just got the "Plus" system with the regular black struts.
