Eagle Lake Recreation area just north of Susanville California. This is a Federal Campground right on the lake. Around 5000 ft elevation gave us some comfortable days and chilly nights. We hated leaving this area.

I would weigh the truck at a 3 pad scale, like a CAT scale, with and without the trailer and see if any of the weight is coming off the front axle. If it does that would no be acceptable to me. A always, your mileage may vary.

Even if you don't want a WDH, getting one with good sway control will work double duty with no suspension mods needed. I would go with an Andersen with that setup.

Since the torque converter in these transmissions can lock in all gears, including 1st, maybe it's the converter unlocking at start up?

Don't exceed the tire/axle ratings and you will be fine. The yellow door sticker is a suggestion from Ford and is not a legal document. The GVWR sticker is the legal document.

Just as an aside, someone mentioned a new battery for the keypad, but it is not replaceable. When the battery dies you need a new keypad.

If Fords wants to put a zero hour new engine in my truck at no cost to me, I'll take it. If it's a remanufactured engine I would probably pass.

If Ford sells the brake controller over the counter at their parts store, how are they losing money?

I remote start my truck from inside a building nearly 99% of the time, but one of the rare times I start the truck sitting in it I have a clunk. It probably does it with the remote start also, but I never hear it. Out of sight out of mind i guess.
