They said tick is perfectly normal, the sound comes from the high pressure fuel pump at low RPM.
Ford actually puts a little cover over it to try and quiet it down.

Or are they both hot and then you tap into your own ground

Good eye. To make the ST lines fit nicely I turned the catch can 180 degrees. Must have mixed up passenger side lines. Here’s how I now have it attached:
Left line -> to driver side WOT T-fitting
Center line (no check valve) -> to passenger side PCV
Right line -> to passenger side intake...
