I had a similar issue on a FX4, where both springs contacted at no load. Discussed with Sumo and their only warranty voiding idea was to trim the springs (they can be cut). Eventually took them off as the ride was jolting. Have not tried cutting them yet.
Only did the passenger side but assume driver is the same. There are a couple of screws hidden behind a cover near the handle that you have to take out first. Then you can work the panel off.

After talking to Timbren and sending photos/measurements, came to the same conclusion that they would not fit.
Did the same with Sumosprings and ran into a similar issue. Sumo told me you can cut the spring shorter to gain clearance but could not "officially" recommend but know others who have...
I agree...you could skip every other row and save a considerable amount of cutting time and still have flexibility in mounting options.
How many items need a molle opening right next to each other? Just a thought....
I saw in a FB group that Escape front headrest fits (and they pivot for adjustment) but could not get a confirmation.
