Same, from what I could tell that black part prevents the clip from being able to come undone. It blocks the push tab to remove the clip. I didn't bother reinstalling them as the tab locked in and felt secure enough to me.
EDIT: this could be incorrect, it was dark and hard to reach so I’m not...
Yeahhhhhhh, not gonna lie my clips are a little scarred. I ended up pulling to hard on the drivers side and pulled the pins out of the connectors... Luckily it all snapped right back in and works fine, but I did give myself a bit of a panic attack...
This was before I figured out about the...
I just grabbed the little pin with some pliers, it broke off clean with literally no effort. Even if you wanted to put the stock ones back it the third pin isn't going to matter AT ALL. I would be more concerned about ruining the new modules trying to drill out a hole vs just snapping that...
Thanks! Definitely took inspiration from your video and want to apologize in advance for my pronunciation of your YouTube channel ??. The only real difference is I used the flexible ratcheting bit driver tool they recommend and was able to gain some extra working space by removing the top fender...
Not sure if I’ll have my video up by then but the best advise I can give is to get the flexible ratcheting bit driver they recommend. Also loosening the top of the fender is only 1 clip and 3 bolts, gives you about an inch or two of slack. That extra space is a game changer for getting your...
Wait for it….
Can confirm they fit and work as advertised. Not the easiest install but the flexible ratcheting bit drive is 100% necessary otherwise basic hand tools is all you need.
I’ll have a video up in the next few days.
I purchased a bunch of different tools to make the install easier. I’ll also put up a video and installation guide.
My guess is that the guy probably messed up the wiring harness when trying to install them, maybe pulled a pin out or something.
They’re a super simple piece, shouldn’t really be...
@Signature Lux also wondering if anyone has confirmed fitment and install process on a U.S. truck yet. I’ll buy these as soon as we can confirm they’ll work.
If you’re interested I’d be happy to work on this with you guys, I’ve worked with a bunch of brands in the past to advertise parts and create promotion material.
Either way I’ll clean the area when I get home tonight and send some photos to this thread to confirm.
Really hoping this works out...
I got one you could have, I live in a two plate state but no way in hell am I sticking that ugly thing on the front of a good looking truck lol. I've ran all my vehicles with no front plate here in Maine over the last 10+ years and only been pulled over once - just got a warning.
Update: we had a mildly warm day up here 30ish F - I brought the truck through a touchless wash and the sound is completely gone. I’m guessing snow / ice was caught somewhere I couldn’t see ??♂️??♂️
