My Chinese damper opens exactly as shown in the video. I would suggest buying a $5 clone on eBay or AliExpress. I see that this VW OE part fits the Atlas SUV. My daughter has one, I just checked; it seems that the damper is located closer to the glovebox hinge than in the Ranger Raptor.

I connected the three lights together with a single positive and negative wire. The negative to ground, and the positive to Aux 1. I leave it on all the time.
