I thought I wanted a 2.7 but have been very happy with my 2.3. And now with a performance tune it just gets better. The .4 Lt gain in the 2.7 just in my opinion doesn't justify the cost.

This has the most glitches of any vehicle I've ever owned. Today I was headed home and all of a sudden the heat went on high full blast and the seat started heating up. Ford really messed up the bed with their software.
The tailgate idea is good but in a reinforced tailgate. I went with two swing cases from Ford. They hold all my stuff with room for more. Tuck in very nice and if you need the space for something they just lift out.
