I've done that, it removes the chime that you get if your seatbelt is unfastened but it doesn't remove that stupid pop up that you get when you first start the truck.

I thought about removing mine because I live in the rust belt and I'm concerned about it getting soaked with salty water this winter and not drying out. It may freeze while I'm at work but when it is home in my semi-heated garage it will thaw but not dry.
It looks more like a thick felt than foam. I tried removing it but I couldn't get a good enough grip on it so I decided I'd leave it for now. I'm not even sure what it is for but I don't like the idea of having it there when it gets waterlogged.
