I had that issue immediately after buying my truck. The dealer couldn’t figure it out and I almost lemon law’d it, then Ford released the TSB saying software update. The dealership did the update and no problems since.
I’ve been sticking with regular 87 for mine. It sounds like it would do better with premium but the price differential has been too much recently for me to try it.
Incidentally, I’m headed to Oklahoma in a few weeks, with the truck and trailer. Hope you all made out okay with the storms. And for my sake, I hope there aren’t anymore for a bit!
NuCamp makes some really slick rigs. They’re pricey (like everything these days) but really high quality. Built (and I think owned?) by Amish. I might have that wrong. I love mine.
The cape is a magical place! It’s changed a lot since the 70s but still a great place to live or visit. That pic...
I really like those 400s and love the new 360s. But I can appreciate the “more crap that can go wrong” sentiment. Every time I dream of getting a T@B, I read some Alde stories, or hear about water leaks in the shower, etc. and it makes me really appreciate my very simple T@G. Plus it was $13K...
Glad the report is helpful! I found myself wondering what others’ experiences had been, so wanted to share mine. Marsh Grey is a great color! There are so many good colors with these 6Gs.
I finally got a chance to take my teardrop camper out this weekend for a first real towing test of the 2025 Lariat 2.7 I bought in November. It was about 140 miles each way, over an even split of New England highway and back roads. Rolling hills much of the way but no significant climbs. My...
In your phone’s Bluetooth settings, hit the info button next to the truck and look for the “Show Message Notifications” toggle. I think you need that turned on.
I will say mine doesn’t work 100% of the time, but it’s been pretty good once I fixed that.
Yep, it was a quick fix. I sure felt the difference in the transmission. The first few shifts were pretty clunky, but already getting smoother after a couple short drives.
The dealership finally got my truck in today. They found that there is a TSB out for this issue:

It looks like the TSB just came out February 2026, which is probably why they didn’t catch that on my prior two visits. Fingers crossed...
Good question, I’m honestly not sure. I remember seeing some discussion of PCV when I googled the code. I checked some of the lines running to/from the PCV but didn’t see any obvious issues. Not sure about the valve itself. I’m hoping they’ll check that (and everything else) on this next visit.
Thanks all. I spent a fair amount of time researching the lemon law option this weekend, along with buyback and BBB Auto Line. I’m not there yet—MA requires a formal notice then a fourth chance before lemon law kicks in. But I’ll definitely take @MasterCylinder advice and nicely let them know...
Hi everyone. I bought my 2025 2.7 Lariat in late November. Since then, the CEL has come on twice showing P04DB and been back to the dealership both times. The first time they tightened the dipstick tube and cleared codes. The CEL came on again about a week after that. They replaced the crankcase...
I converted to LiFePO4 too, one that has a built-in heater. I’m sure the heater uses some energy but can’t speak to how much. Probably not enough to drain the battery before my own cold weather tolerance runs out!
Great, thanks! I’ve towed this camper with a Silverado and a RAM 1500 with no issues, but those trucks both had better feeling brakes. I’m pretty confident the Ranger will be okay too. We’ll see.
I have a NuCamp T@G but havent had a chance to tow it with my Ranger yet. I’m looking forward to a test once the bulk of the snow and salt is gone. My teardrop doesn’t have brakes though, so I’m a little anxious how the squishy Ranger brakes will do. I’m looking into adding brakes to my...
I have 3500 miles on my 2025 Lariat. The transmission is getting smoother and no issues at all. It initially shifted rough when cold (normal behavior based on lots of posts here) but even that seems to be getting better.
I’m not from that area but remember Schaefer Trail in Canyonlands was pretty cool when I visited. I just went down and back up, but I think you can ride it all the way back to town. Mostly just a dirt road, nothing crazy, but it gets the heart pumping.
