I think the 2.3L is a fine engine for the Ranger. I haven’t driven the new model and I’m sure it’s heavier and bigger. But in the previous gen the 2.3 is an awesome motor. Check out TFL, the new Ranger with the 2.3 beat or really closely matched every competitor for towing, mpg and 0-60 times...
I had a 2022 F150 with the 10 speed. I didn’t love it driving around town. Once you were past 5th gear it was smooth. But anything below 5th and it would have its quirks with hard shifts, both up and down.
I agree with you. The Colorado trail boss and the Canyons look corny to me. They’re not a big enough vehicle to have such a wide stance on them. They look silly imo, kind of like after market fender flares sticking way out on modified vehicles. Wide trucks like the F150 Raptor and TRX are big...
The kinks should be worked out from the get-go. The Ranger has already been built for 2 years overseas. At least that’s what I’m hoping.
The GM twins have had all sorts of problems with their new truck. Ford can’t afford for that to happen after being the last truck to the party.
Ford might as well scrap the Ranger in North America at this point. I feel like all of the wind has been taken out of its sails. Maybe keep the Raptor because that’s a niche market. But I feel the average Ranger buyer will move on to the GM twins or the Tacoma.
I still can’t believe Ford didn’t put 4A on the US model. Such a massively underrated feature and one I’m sure they decided to omit to push people into the F150. If anyone from Ford is reading this, please fix your mistake. ??
Oh and keyed ignition on XL and XLT in 2023, seriously?
Why doesn’t North America use more diesel engines? (I’ve never been to Mexico, so I’m not sure if they do. I’m mainly speaking about US and Canada).
The global platform Ranger exclusively uses diesel motors in Australia, UK, Thailand, The Philippines, etc.
I could be wrong and maybe I am but...
Wouldn’t it be easier if we just built the same truck as the rest of the world? Obviously the truck would need the federal requirements we must have. But it seems like it would be easier to just use the same trim levels as the global platform.
