Its quite literally using weight on the wheel to sense presence. People in the maverick forums were using 1lb lead weights and driving hands free. the "input" is sensing 1lb of force on the wheel, whether that's you hanging off the wheel, countering input against where its turning or whatever...

Its not input based or touch. Its weight sensing, so you can literally hold on with a single finger as long as that is giving about 1lb of weighted resistance. Once you get used to sort of jjust "hanging" on the wheel its mush less annoying and smoothing cruising.

The one thing ford has mastered is the setting up controls for the driver that makes sense. Always super intuitive and even more so for towing controls. Personally i was in your boat with the Lariat or raptor but being real the Lariat with FX4 is gonna handle just about anything thrown at it...

The MT peaked my interest as well but for how much driving tech you lose taking a MT it feels like the discount is pretty lacking. It is competitively priced next to a ranger, maybe 1k more trim for trim with packages but for me i get Aplan so it takes the Toyota out of the picture.

I wouldn't. Deposits make sense for something that's very niche and they may have a hard time moving, a RR is moving with little to zero effort and does not warrant a deposit.
