I use the CTEK MXS 5.0 from GLW's post. I've only had to use it on the Ranger once, but use it regularly as well on a late-model BMW and also on a 15 year-old Xterra. This unit has worked flawlessly, and is one of the best purchases bang-for-the-buck I've made in a long time. Highly recommend it.
Ditto on all that, good they're replacing it.
I will say I'm not really impressed with these transmissions. Mine has admittedly smoothed out quite a bit after about 5,000 km (3,000 miles) or so, but it still has a couple of issues. One, once in a while it still has to hunt for the right gear...
Question: as part of this recall "fix", do they also pull the door panel(s) off, or is that not part of it?
Just wondering how far this goes before I commit...
Interesting, I just checked & looks like you're right, I just see 2019-2023 models. Maybe it's an availability thing, you might just call them. I got mine a couple of months ago, for my 2024 Ranger.
PS the one for the 2024 Ranger vs. earlier models is the same cover just with some special...
I'm in Canada and bought the Bison tri-fold cover, which looks almost exactly like the Ford one someone posted up above in those pictures. The build quality and latching etc. is very good and it seems very secure, which is what I wanted.
I do get some leaks. My impression is that mostly...
That really looks fantastic.
I wish I had a 2-car garage, but it's just 1, so it's reserved for the convertible, and the sad reality is the truck has to face the elements year-round like the workhorse it is...
what stock tires did your rigs come with? mine was a 24 came with General Grabbers, they look & feel robust, they ride fine, there is no discolouration about 4,000 km in, and no issues?
Hi, I went through the same decision-making process and ended up with the 2.7 engine, the tech package and the FX4, all per Lariat. Couple of comments:
- as has been said, the 2.3 is probably just fine and by all accounts is a very good engine, but like skinnyjimmy above, once I drove a Ranger...
I admittedly don't know a lot about this, but here in Canada, the Toyota website describes the Limited in Hybrid form having "all time 4 wheel drive", and at least on reddit it references a locking center diff. Not sure beyond that.
I was similarly unsure and test-drove two different Broncos as well as the Rangers back-to-back. For me it was less about off-road and admittedly the first thing was looks & how great the Bronco looks especially with the Sasquatch. But driving that Bronco and then the Ranger back-to-back...
Not sure whether this would be in the same ballpark for our Rangers, but recently when I had a small accident in our BMW, the shop told me how lucky I was not to damage the headlight assembly. They said on a similar car that needed the headlight assembly replaced and calibrated etc. it cost $7k...
Was just down in Puerto Vallarta - I think old Ford Rangers are pretty much the #1 vehicle down there. The roads are charming but harsh cobblestones, and you see these old, banged up Rangers everywhere, still going strong. Here’s an XLT that’s not going gently into the good night for sure. I...
About 10 years ago I was interested in an F150. When I just bought the Ranger Lariat, it seemed to me the Ranger today is about the same size as the F150 was back then. Anyways, it's the perfect size for me, it has the utility of the truck, a pretty smooth driving experience, and it fits in...
one way or the other, what I find in terms of the steering wheel is that having one hand on the wheel does not do the trick unless I'm deliberately jiggling the wheel a bit - which bears out what you guys are saying, but also in my view again makes the whole lane-assist feature both annoying and...
I'm wondering why you say that though? Genuine question. In that diagram you posted, it looks like the #4 is the back-support to fit onto the #1 back frame, and it's the #8 that's the seat support?
In terms of engines, the Ranger 2.7 was just the smoothest experience, by far, of all the trucks I drove before making a decision.
When the new Tacoma came out, on paper it looked like the one I wanted, especially the Tacoma Limited due to all-time-four-wheel drive and the AVS suspension...
Thanks for all the feedback! It’s good to hear the tailgate thing is just my truck, so then I will go ahead and have that checked out.
Getting the XLT wheels was just a lucky break. I test-drove an XLT in the morning and went to have lunch to think it over - came back, and someone else is...
Hi, on mine, the lane centering requires you to have both hands on the wheel - just one, and the reminders keep coming. It's just how it is.
And the tailgate may well have some assist (spring-loaded?), and yes it has dampers, I'm just saying whatever these assists amount to, they're not...
