Good points:) The making a profit component is the most difficult part. Every decision comes down to ROI. There's never any guarantee a new trend will turn into a growing market where $ comes pouring in no matter initial investment or problems like quality control or recalls. Trends come and go...
not level across the footwells and hump which would give maximum space. We have large dog crates from owning Rottweilers and I don't see 1 fitting securely in there just removing a seat bottom. You'd want level all the way forward to back of console for a big crate.
Agreed. Slight variations or specialty packages and trims don't change the basic mission of an off road capable 4x4. Just more ways to take $ from people without any measurable leap in enjoyment or wanting a trophy to show off...
Ford will probably ignore it- as they should. Toyota is far and away the class sales leader and it makes no financial sense for others like Ford to dilute their smaller share with lots of gimmicky specialty versions inside the Ranger lineup to keep up with others. "Overlanding" itself is just a...
Doesn't the under seat storage bins cover side to side in rear and also create not level floor? I'm hoping the 6G indeed has SCab option + the rear seat delete option currently offered. Really clean set up back there which will allow space customization :)
Not that it is specific to 6G Ranger, just a reference point: Our 2018 F-150 Sport has selectable 4WD. Default is 2WD, but we have rotary knob on dashboard that allows shift on the fly into 4H, then requires being in neutral to select 4L. From there can also engage electronically locking rear...
1 more thought: if you don't *need* to necessarily have 4WD to do the stuff you outlined, consider the 2WD FX-2 package that has electronic locking rear axle. 4WD requires FX-4 and more $. I have similar normal use needs as you: dump runs, Lumber and concrete and rock, etc. box store runs. I...
There's a lot of people here that hope you are right  I'm not much of a betting man and Raptor is way more than I need so will leave the $ predictions to others craving that model...
Nice Bronco  I keep my off roading vehicles and toys separate from my everyday use and reliable transportation driver too. We do own a 2018 F-150 XL Super Cab with 6.5' bed and shift on the fly 4WD for the bigger truck tasks + I have a Maverick XL with AWD for reliable transportation...
Wait, it gets even better. My sales guy offered up the used Mavericks are selling for more than new (I already knew that). I asked him if they have had a single used Maverick to put on the Used lot, and he said no while shaking his head. The Finance guy and I were discussing building home...
did you read the article linked in opening post? The price in Argentinian currency converted to $USD there shows the price would be a little more than $100k. You think Ford will actually sell them for $40k less to us here in United States?
and nobody is advocating or forcing you to do that. Buying a new vehicle is a voluntary action. Each individual has to decide if they want, or even CAN do that considering their own circumstances. The game here, and the world at large has changed now. Adapt to it or not.
No inventory on lots and customers special order pretty much guarantees waiting built in now. Performing our own due diligence in advance and not NEEDING TO have a coveted vehicle fit perfectly into our own life situations and timelines is how we win here.
So, beyond the price shock converting to USD, the more interesting part to me is the launch window for May. We have to assume our NA reveals / launch to be roughly same time frame. Was hanging out with friends at local Ford dealer yesterday, and they know nothing as usual. Ford corporate treats...
I didn't want to comment on that in opening post and ruin anyone's day. How much does F-150 Raptor cost in USA for comparison? There are at least a dozen I regularly see around my little AG/ farming community with population of ~8000. My friendly sales guy says there's always orders in process...
Taco won't steal anything. Already segment leader with 250k annual sales on stale platform. Ranger 5G average US sales were approximately 100k annual from 2019 until Ford confirmed that 6G would replace it and sales dropped starting with 2022 MY. New Ranger has nowhere to go but up. Targets...
okay, tracked down the 6G teardown video. 1st part chitty chat is kinda boring but you can fast forward to teardown section. I'll try to link in the youtube here below, but thread is here:
