For those on the fence between a Ranger Raptor and a Jeep Rubicon, I am currently writing this as I sit shotgun in a Jeep Rubicon and I must say the Raptor is leaps and bounds more comfortable than the Jeep. There is a vibration in the cabin from the tires and every bump is jarring to the spine...
I am going to be picking up a car in California next month and towing it back. For those that have towed with their Raptor, what are you towing and what drop did you need? The trip is ~1,300 miles so I need the trailer to be level.
Update: I'm not sure if the tech had a bad gauge, but I just measured my tread depth and I am between 13.25 and 14+/32nds (highest my Amazon gauge goes is 14/32nds). I verified the accuracy of my gauge with Mitutoyo calipers.
Mine was 11/32 at 4,4xx miles, but I just rounded up to 5k.
I am at 5,200 now and have a depth gauge coming from Amazon today. I will check and update when able.
I run 93, but next month I am making a 2,700 mile round trip. I plan to use 87 on the drive out (will save us about $60) and then 93 on the way back as we will be towing a car.
I've got 5,000 miles and I've had the truck two months ?
The standard wheels look like some cheapos you would order from Tire Rack. The bead lock wheels are much better looking and accent the truck nicely for those that ordered the best color ?
Yeah, that's why I am asking. I haven't been off-road yet and 90% have been highway miles (50-85mph). I don't do much hard acceleration and try to drive conservatively (~18mpg).
