Yeah the problem is I need a very specific list of options, and it is virtually impossible to find a dealer who has what I want sitting on a lot.
There's a guy on the Ford Truck Enthusiasts forum who ordered a new Ranger in fall of 2024 and just took delivery at the beginning of this summer...
I'm not even going to try to list the 30+ vehicles I've had over the last 30 years.
But, when I graduated college I bought myself a new Ford Ranger Supercab FX4 (first year of the FX4 packaging) as a "congrats for earning your degree" gift to myself. I had a tremendous amount of fun in that...
I'm currently with Progressive. I just got a quote to replace my 2019 F-250 with a 2025 Ranger and the quote came in $350/annually less expensive. I was surprised.
I come from a LONG line of midsize, fullsize, and now HD pickup trucks and SUVs, so I unfortunately have gotten a good taste of...
So if I were to walk into a dealership tomorrow and place an order, it would most likely turn into a 2026 model?
While looking at window stickers of used Rangers I was searching on Autotrader I noticed a 2024 model year truck that was built 10-2-2024. I thought it was interesting that in...
Apparently all XLTs built in July 2025 and on are missing equipment that was formerly standard. No more power sliding rear window (in fact I think the slider goes away altogether), no more wireless charging pad, etc. A lot of things are now included in yet another $500 package called the...
This all sounds eerily similar to the issue people with GM 10-speeds are complaining about. I wonder if Ford is using the same junk valve bodies that GM is using to try and save a few pennies?
Well tonight I found some '25 Rangers on a lot nearby and looked at them. They are offering good deals on them right now. They have an XL and an XLT. The XL is $1,700 less money but has features the XLT doesn't: tow hooks and locking rear diff being the main ones. They both had the towing...
I look at it the other way around. I think it's amazing that the WT for $36k has 430 lb/ft of torque.
Interesting about the rattling and cheap feel though. I think I need to look at one in person.
No, the new Colorado is the one midsize truck I haven't driven. Serious question.. what makes them junk? The engine has excellent reviews. The transmission was co-developed with Ford. The interior is the best looking in the entire segment. Why are they garbage? Are there things about the...
Exactly. Give us options. I'll tell you right now that if Ford offered a 6' bed on the Ranger that one simple change would have me in the dealership today.
Everybody has different needs. By giving more options and flexibility you draw in more customers.
I mean, seriously. It's a joke. On the Ford Ranger XL, you have to pay:
- $535 for a trailer tow package just to get a receiver hitch and harness
- $275 to get a brake controller
And a 400+ lb/ft engine isn't even an option. There's some other stuff missing too, but I won't list it out...
2026 Colorados are already on the lots for sale. What's interesting is that the Colorado has more content for less money despite a price increase for '26. The standard engine has more torque than the engine you have to option at $2,200 on the Ford. The base model WT has standard features that...
Yeah just simple physics. If you push an ink pen into your leg, it's going to hurt worse than pushing a baseball bat into your leg with the same force. Why? Because the smaller ink pen is applying more contact pressure. Same reason a smaller tire will grip the road surface better.
In watching lots of online reviews on the 2024/2025 Ranger, one thing I have noticed is that all of the trucks in media reviews have quite a bit of rust showing on the rear axle, frame, driveshaft, etc. I have owned a ton of Ford vehicles and I know the surface rust on the driveshafts is common...
Yeah and the most scary part is that Toyota built their frame with the receiver hitch welded in, which means that even a minor fender bender can result in the insurance company totaling the truck. I saw at least two reports of that happening while reading. Absolutely ridiculous....
Well...
I just did some poking around over at the new Tacoma forums. You can click into the "issues/TSBs" section of the forum and read for hours! Those trucks are junk. Transmission failures, HVAC failures, no way to add trailer brake controller after purchase, rattles under hood, hood...
