It's also worth noting that up until very recently our XLT had a completely different grill to the NA Ranger. It was a chromed version of the Wildtrak grill.

The discussion I saw with the Chief Engineer (at the closed launch live stream), they stated that the major changes to the platform were to make it more modular, to suit the electrification in the future. It seems that a hybrid may happen, but pure electric is almost a certainty.
Different 2.3, the Pinto engine was put out to pasture a long time ago. The 2.3 EcoBoost is based on the Mazda L engine family, a clean sheet design from the early 2000s

Global release, basically everywhere other than North America. The rest of us got the current Ranger from 2010 onwards, this is its replacement. Australia is the design and engineering lead for this platform, the Ranger and Everest were designed, engineered and prototyped here in Melbourne.
