All 2.3 come with metal oil pan and valve cover, 2.7 oil pan and drain plug are plastic, not sure about RR. Some trims come with metal guard under engine, mine is plastic. Most difficult task of changing 2.3 oil is replacing the oil filter but once you do it a couple of times you'll get used to it.
I did some research after watching the video, there is a filter. For the 2.3l looks like it is part of the oil feed line, you can clearly see it on a diagram. I've never heard of this filter before.

Motorcraft full synthetic is basically Valvoline which is upthere in high quality oil brands like, PUP and Mobil 1. Motorcraft syn blend is basically Phillips 66.
