Totally agree! I own the 2024 Lariat 2.7L FX4 and I am currently in the market for a lower priced version for a family member. The lack of Push-button Start is literally a deal-breaker, and I’m even eligible for employee pricing! Someone should get fired for not including it on every trim level...
I’m just a DYI oil change and brakes guy. Can you post another picture or too from further away so I can find these locations on my truck next time I change the oil? Let us know what they say at the dealership. My guess is they will try to blow you off. I’ve had strange steering noises when...
My 2024 2.7L runs almost exclusively on 87. At around 3k miles I ran a couple tanks on premium for a section of a road tip and only noticed a 1.5 mpg difference. That is nowhere near enough improvement to justify the cost, and I did not notice any change in performance. I’m always within 1500...
Added level of safety to keep items from sliding side to side off the cover. Plus, not having the cross-bars allows for most tonneau covers to open when items are not stacked on top of it. The rings will work, but the rails would be more robust.
Any chance you could make bed rail bars (basically these crossbars rotated front-to-back instead of side-to-side). I have a tonneau cover that holds 400 pounds, but no convenient method to strap things down.
I’m looking for something like this, but so far it doesn’t seem like anyone is making them for the new Ranger… Any ideas other than a DIY hardware store solution?
Nice! I haven't found that the price of premium fuel covers the difference in MPG. I see a 2 MPG improvement with 93 octane, but I would need a 4 MPG (or more) improvement to justify using premium fuel.
I'm not sure if his XL is 2X4 or 4x4. An XL 2X4 could get 28 MPG without playing too many games with driving habits. Also, he didn't say if he was using premium fuel or not, I'm assuming he is using regular fuel. Premium fuel in a 2x4 platform with no heavy options could get a highway driver...
I’m getting 18-20 MPG out of the 2.7L FX4, and I’m sure I could get it to 22 or more if I didn’t drive like Mario Andretti. 28 MPG out of the 2.3L is very possible with reasonable driving Habits.
Does anyone know what the weight limit is for the tailgate? I would like to use ramps to load a snow blower, but I don't want to destroy the tailgate doing it... The snow blower weight 250-300 lbs so that would probably be find, but I'm not sure if it will hold both me and the snow blower as I...
I bought a box of grommets (various sizes) from Amazon, and was able to find a fit for most of the holes. You can also cut the grommets to force fit when needed. I also used black flex seal tape for some of the larger gaps under the rails.
I think most of the holes are just fixture points...
That stinks. The problem is with the cover, not the rails. My original rails worked with the replacement cover. The bolt head slots are in the wrong location on the original cover.
Word of warning… Don’t expect anything to stay dry and clean if you use a tonneau cover. The bed on this truck leaks worse than any truck I’ve ever used.
I’ve noticed the wind direction makes a massive difference in my 2.7L MPG. I do Cincinnati to Columbus, then back to Cincinnati fairly often (Go bucks!). It’s very common that I get 18.5 MPG one direction and 22 MPG the other direction. The cruise is set on 80 as my default, so I’m sure I...
I have a set of Harbor Freight ramps that cost like 70 dollars, but they are probably not needed. I just like having the space to move around. You could probably buy the ramps, oil, filter, and 27mm socket (or 1 1/16 socket) for less money than it would cost to pay for one oil change.
You lose maybe 9 inches of bed length, but it is above the rails, so you still have the full box length. When rolled, you can still see out of the rear view mirror, which was a big plus in my opinion. The other thing you can do is remove the cover if you really need those 9 inches every once...
The replacement they sent installed properly. All I had to do was start a warranty claim, send them some pictures, and they agreed to provide a replacement free of charge. I don’t like having problems with such an expensive purchase, but BAK handled it very well and resolved my issue quickly.
I'm very happy with the engine. It's over-powered for a rear-wheel-drive vehicle, and will spin the rear tires if you punch it from a dead stop. It is crazy fast for a truck, and doesn't even blink under any significant load both in the farm fields or on the highway. My only complaints are...
Nice! I'm driving the 2.7 FX4 and have run a similar 200 mile trip 4 different times. MPG with the tonneau cover closed was 22-23.5 MPH and with the tonneau cover opened was 19.5-21 MPG. All figures are hand calculated and were similar to the onboard calculation (with on exception where the...
