MPGs on the RR is really bad. I can barely get 300 miles on a tank. And yes, I know the raptor is not designed for good gas mileage. But the 2.7 is nearly as quick and so much better on gas. Donāt get me wrong. Iām very happy with my raptor. Just wish it had an Eco mode! š
This is not good. I smell coolant every once in a while but always assume itās the old van or truck in front of me. Iām going to take a look at mine today. 15k miles.
Letās keep it cordial. This is a safe place to exchange thoughts, opinions, and experiences about 6th generation Ford Rangers. No need to argue over semantics. There are pros and cons to all engines.
Cam phaser issues on the 2.7 were mostly found in the pre-2017 F150, which was long before the bronco/ranger. The updated 2.7 remains a solid engine choice.
Thatās interesting that you were also confused about which shifter was in which ranger. I too saw many conflicting photos/videos and then finally realized after seeing them in person that only the lariat and raptor had the short shifter. At first, I hated the short shifter. It reminded me of...
Maybe add a catch-can if you're concerned about the 2.3. 2.7 already has a built-in cleaner. 3.0 just needs to be driven to keep the soot out, but not many other options for DI engines other than regular oil changes--or the expensive walnut shell cleaning. As many folks on this forum have...
I live outside of Phoenix, AZ and we haven't had rain since September and obviously no snow. My experience on dry pavement is similar to yours--seems to slip when stopping suddenly or turning a corner a little too fast. I can only imagine if conditions were wet. My next tires will definitely...
Yes. Agreed. I was not basing my entire opinion on his failure to recall any wet belt issues. Iāve been known to frequent the YouTube and have seen many high-mileage engines with the belt completely intact. Once I realized that the material is unlike any of the dry v-belts/serpentine belts, I...
The wet belt is not as much a problem as people think. They are not a high-failure item. I asked the service manager at my local dealership about it and he said he has never had a failed one come through his shop.
Definitely the 2.7. You wonāt regret it. I have a range raptor and a two-door bronco with a 2.7.
I prefer the 2.7. There is just something about that engine that works well in a mid-size truck. Not to mention you get direct and port injection on the 2.7.
Ranger Raptor and Bronco Raptor both have the 3.0, which is direct injection only.
Non-Raptor Ranger and Bronco with the 2.7 have direct injection AND port injection.
2.3 in Ranger and Bronco are direct injection only.
And since the 3.5 doesnāt come in the bronco or the ranger, it shouldnāt...
Iāve driven the new Ranger with all three engine options. The 2.3 is no slouch. I currently own a 2024 raptor and a 2021 bronco with the 2.7. After thousands of miles in both platforms, I can definitively tell you that the 3.0 in the Ranger is faster mainly because of the 4.27 rear end
With...
After test driving the Tacoma, Frontier, and GM twins, the Ranger checks more boxes for me, personally. I do believe that Toyota is still king in terms of reliability. (Try to find a used sienna or RAV4). They had a few hiccups with their new drivetrain, but they are addressing the issues and...
Definitely still my favorite color. My original XLT 2.7 Ranger was ordered in Iconic silver. Now Iām stuck with this baby raptor in carbonized gray. I know. Rough life. š
