Problem with using the OEM gasket with aftermarket covers and their hardware designed around either a thin flat gasket or RTV, you loose about 5mm of grip length with the attachment fasteners.

No doubt, but the box the engineer has to work in has been defined by others and they rarely get to engineer how they would want to do it. It's a balance between cost, quality and engineering.
While not the same engine but still a wet belt, I know of a guy with a 2021 Ford Escape Sport with the 1.5L engine that has a wet belt oil pump that got to 300K miles before it became an issue. It was a loss of oil pressure from bits clogging the oil pump screen. That was with 5K mile oil changes.
They replaced mine. Took a picture when I took it in and the tech verified and they ordered a replacement driveshaft that came in a week.

I will save anybody the trouble thinking they are smart and can make the Mike's dipstick for the 5G work in the 6G, it will not. The transmission dipstick access on the 6G is on the opposite side of transmission where the 5G access is.
