2024 Ranger XL 4x4 Oil Analysis 2.3L

Thought I would start a thread that will be ongoing documenting my oil analysis results going forward. On new vehicles, I usually do a 500 mile, 2500 mile, 5000 mile oil analysis and then stick to a 5K OCI after that.

I do not advocate what I do is what anybody else should do, it is just my process.

Anyways, attached is my first report of the factory fill taken 608 miles. Somewhat surprised at how low some of the numbers are for the wear metals. Would have expected more iron but it was reasonably low. Fuel dilution was also low but that may just also be the low mileage the sample was taken. My vehicle was bought with 6 miles and was built in late May 2024 and delivered to my dealership in like 8 days. So it did not stick around on the transport lots with heavy idle hours like others have. Was replaced with Mobil Full Synthetic 5W-30 and a Motorcraft FL2114 oil filter.

Attached is my second oil analysis report. Ran for 1661 miles. A bit of fuel dilution brought down the viscosity and flashpoint levels. Replace with Quaker State Full Synthetic 5W-30 and CarQuest R85348 oil filter. Will take this out to the 5K mile mark and then go every 5K miles for a OCI.

I should note that after I did the first oil change, I installed a Banks Pedal Monster. I may run it in bypass if the next analysis comes back again with any higher fuel dilution as a data point.

That is not a Mobil 1 line product. Actually had to make Blackstone give me a corrected report as they made the same assumption.

Attached is the latest sample run for 2656 miles. Fuel dilution still there but down a tick from 1.3% to 1.0% with corresponding shearing out of grade and lower flashpoint levels. Replace with Valvoline High Mileage Synthetic Blend 10W-30 and a Motorcraft FL-2123 oil filter. I think I am going to now stick to a 3K-4K mile OCI instead of original plan to take it out to 5K miles.

Edit: The report states a synthetic blend used but that was a mistake on my part when I filled out the lab slip sent. It was Quaker State Full Synthetic 5W-30

Attached is the latest sample run for 3106 miles using Valvoline High Mileage Synthetic Blend 10W-30 and a Motorcraft FL-2123 oil filter. Wear metals seems to now trend to normal expected universal averages. Fuel dilution seems to be down also and only measured as a trace but still there nonetheless. Next samples I may send to two different labs as I have heard Blackstone test methods tend to underreport fuel.

Replaced with Quaker State Full Synthetic 5W-30 using a Hastings LF563 oil filter. Removed Motorcraft FL-2123 pictures can seen at the link below.
