Process? You decide what you want to do and add. Then check the car, open panels, research what modules is in your car, are they correct level. For example ipma that controls cameras has 2 levels. Apim has at least 3, but those are the major ones. Then when you have the image of that and I cannot say this hard enough, you know your car.
Better that dealer? I think atleas in terms of next gen ranger but dealers have those god mode tools IDS/FDRS
Same time when you are investigating check connectors in the harness between the function and commanding module/modules and perhaps secondary etc. Compare those to manual pinouts and you see what wires you have and what you need to build as custom harness.
Then start making list of parts required, wire lengths, print connectors and mark notes that you can actually remember what you just watched. And start scrolling the internet, if you have little bit extra in pocket you can buy donor main wirelooms (1. Enginebay 2. Engine 3. Dashboard 4. Chases 5. Rear tub 6. Mayby, smaller, perhaps, I would just pull awg wires what needed in roof) where easily required wires can be taken apart and you get those super expensive ford connectors that ford sells but the price is crazy (for example when I added TBA connector for module was like 130e, little bit research and it came that it was just molex mx50, that can be bought couple euros.). Also with donor harnesses from dismantled cars you get practise to open terminals and take pins out. (There was good video where ford engineer showed bunch of those).
After that is just physical part left, instal everything in place.
Then forscanning. Make sure that your car has no connections to anywhere
PMI required modules, configure old and open features (spread sheet is quite accurate in my experience all works in end of the day). Update if required.
Put everything back together. And remember you can put some own touches, put some visual upgrades in interrior, make the working man have little bit bling and make him and you feel special together
Ford made outstanding job with the Tech but the interrior finishes is quite lame even the terms of work car in farm. Iam brain damaged (literally, horse kicked me to head), got masters in mechanical engineering and after accident when realised cannot do engineer work anymore, started farrier career. So I spent alot time in car and I want that time to be nice. Listen good quality music in car of my OWN.
Ah, seats. I forgot. Yes I think you can add memory's. To be honest it might be just forscanning if you have allready motor seats. In seats you can add just motors in old frames (I did and won't do never again), but easier and nicer is that get replace ones.
