I couldn’t find any official sources but I read around tonight and found some credible-sounding explanations. It implied that there was a normal controller responsible for the chime, blinker, and various alert noises but also a totally separate controller that can act like a backup in case the normal one is unavailable. It also suggested the BCM controller is responsible for managing the handoff of responsibility for audio from one to another.Seems the sounds went back to normal this morning on first start. Must be something to do with finishing the software update during operation.
The vehicle entering low power mode is frequently cited as a trigger engaging that backup audio. Presumably during the software updates something can cause it to flip to the backup audio too and it just takes a couple key cycles to get everything in normal operation again.
