So this last christmas we did a small road trip in the 24 XLT FX4. We left on Dec 19th and returned Dec 31st and completed a little over 5000 miles. It wasthe wife and myself and tagging along for the ride were our two Aussies. We drove from the SF Bay Area and stopped in Coursegold CA to drop a few things off with my brother. The following morning it was Off to OKC, 2 days later we made it and spent a few days with at the In-Laws, then we left and continued on to Savannah TN and spent a day driving the Civil War battle fields there. Then off to Nashville and back to Savannah TN. the following morning we drove to Cabot AR, back to OKC and then into Amarillo TX. One last night in Kingman and we drove home. It was a lot and the truck did it just fineand we were never uncomfortable. So Happy for purchase.

Nice MPG, what was your total hand calculated MPG? What engine?

That blows away my Colorado to Virginia (I-70/I-64) and back trip MPG. 3815.6 miles, 65 mph avg, 20.4 mpg, 58:17 hh:mm. Hand calculated was 19.7 mpg. I was a bit disappointed because I was getting 25 mpg for my long Colorado mountain drives. The 2.7 has a sweet spot and flat high-speed interstate driving is not it.

I only did one hand calculation, and if memory serves me correctly,, it was only about 2/10ths of a gallon off. I also think the engine is far more efficient than it should be in the higher altitudes. It is the 2.7 liter.
