First post as a member, got my 2025 XLT about a month ago and love it, but the only downside has been the lack of ( from what i can tell) mods for the newest gen rangers.

I had a fire extinguisher i kept in the trunk of my old car and wanted to move it over to the truck, but i cant seem to find any solutions i like online.

I 3D printed this adapter plate so i could mount a fire extinguisher using the stock tie down insert locations on the inside corner of the bed. The fire extinguisher holder is a fairly common quick detach one you can find all over amazon and ebay.

The adapter uses the tie down spacing (3-3/4") for 2 flathead M8-1.25 x 25mm fasteners and then a M6x1.0x10 to attach the adapter to the quick detach mount.

I would love to post pictures but somebody has to tell me the secret sauce to get these things to attach to the post. I tried compressing the pictures to dust and they still won't upload. The only thing i can attach at the moment is a snip of the drawing for the adapter plate.

Hey. I’m very interested in this. I would love to have a fire extinguisher mounted in the bed.
For pics, I’ve never had an issue, I use the “Attach Files” button when posting.

Nice work, love to see custom bits like this. It fits in their nicely.

I know PTEG is pretty rugged, but I'd be a bit concerned over time with it failing due to temperature cycles and all the vibration. In case it does or if you just want to make it more robust you could send your model/drawing to Send-Cut-Send and probably have that part made, tapped, and powder coated for ~$30-40 out of aluminum for a single piece (obviously more than your PTEG piece if you printed it yourself).

I went for an interior mount in front of my passenger seat for an Element extinguisher but I've been meaning to see if I could mount a more traditional one like you have to maybe sell.

Thanks. Ill have to wait and see how the plastic holds up and thats a clean looking solution you designed.

Ive used Xometry alot for work, but they're fairly expensive. I was think of using Send cut Send for a different project( an ultra low tie down bracket in the bed), but im not happy with my design yet.

Feel free to use my design if you want to sell metal versions, the drawing in the original post should have all the dims you need. Just need to watch out if other brands of quick detach mounts have different hole spacing.

Thanks, but I would never try to make money off someone else's work.

We use Xometry for work as well and I used it to make some personal custom brackets for my bed rack. Really convenient service but it is definitely pricy. SCS is significantly cheaper and faster, but they're mostly limited to stuff that can be made from sheet stock (they're currently adding CNC machining capabilities but it's pretty limited so far).

Enjoy your truck, I've definitely been happy with mine so far

The only problems with mounting a traditional fire extinguisher is that the dry chemical
gets compressed into a hard cake material. That's what happen with the ones mounted on our military vehicles. You would have to remove them once a month and hit them with a rubber mallet to free up the dry chemical. I like the Element one as there is no dry chemical, it a chemical reaction.

I think I read that the Coast Guard or some agency was recommending that fire extinguishers be mounted horizontally for boats, due to the bouncing on a boat packing the powder inside down if mounted vertically. I have never looked into it, so I have no idea if that's true

If it's true, I wonder if that would be a good idea for a truck?

I was fortunate enough to get hold of a couple surplus military CO2 extinguishers (still in date). Contemplating the mount dilemma.

Nope won't work that's how ours were mounted on our military vehicles. Still need to take them off and pound them with rubber mallet.
