Had decent chat with Ford today and here's a couple of highlights. Hopefully, there are engineers monitoring this post.
Concerning ASS: New Architecture (Secure Gateway): The 2024+ Ranger uses Ford's newer electronic architecture (often referred to as FNVE). Unlike older models, these newer vehicles have a Secure Gateway Module (SGW) that encrypts communication between modules. This is likely why your ForScan "hacks" that worked on the older F-150 are not working now the system is designed to prevent unauthorized changes to the module configuration.
If Ford is moving toward a "Customer Choice" model as they suggested, a permanent software toggle in the SYNC menu is the most likely way they will implement it.
Concerning 12v dash plug: The shift of the 12V "cigarette lighter" style plug to the inside of the center console is part of a broader industry move toward USB-C power delivery. Engineers often assume users want "cleaner" dashes with fewer wires, but for owners using CB radios, radar detectors, or specialized equipment, the dash-mounted 12V is essential.
How to get your feedback to the right people:
Option 1: The FordPass "Feedback" Feature Open your FordPass App > Account > Help > Give Feedback. Why this works: These submissions are categorized and sent to the Product Marketing and User Experience (UX) teams. Mentioning specific ergonomic issues like the "buried 12V plug" is exactly the kind of data they look for.
Option 2: Use the SYNC 4 "Send Feedback" Button In some SYNC 4 versions, you can go to Settings > General > Feedback. This sends a data packet directly to the software engineers. You can specifically request: "Requesting a software toggle for Auto Start-Stop memory (remembers last setting) for SYNC 4."
Option 3: The "Ford Ideas" Community Ford product managers often monitor enthusiast forums like Ranger6G.comOpens in a new window; external.. While not an official Ford channel, Ford’s "Social Listening" teams compile the most requested features from these boards and present them to the engineering teams during "Voice of the Customer" meetings. One or more links in the message.
I personally plan to do both 1 & 2. And I will pester them until I get a satisfactory answer. Maybe if enough of us complain, they make the changes???
