Seats look awesome.

Curious if it might be possible to get the cooled option with Katzkin and kerp the OEM heated seat integrated within the trucks systems.

IE. I can control my heated seats from my Ford app. I can remote start truck, set the climate system , turn on my heated steering wheel, heated seats all from the app.

I am thinking I would like to keep the heated seat function controlled by the truck and simply add the cooled function on that seat mounted switch.

Curious if that’s an offered optional way of doing it?

There actually are “air conditioned” seats that cool the air going through the seats.

They typically use a peltier device to cool the air which dumps a considerable amount of heat in the area behind the seats.

I have no idea how well they work at cooling, but they heat up the rear passengers in a hurry if there is anyone back there.

The Katzkin Degreez (also styled DegreeZ) is an aftermarket OEM-style heated/cooled seat system (typically Gentherm-based thermoelectric technology). It uses a TED (thermoelectric device / Peltier module) that creates a temperature differential: one side cools while the opposite side heats (or vice versa when polarity is reversed for heating mode).

How the airflow works
  • A blower draws cabin air and passes it across the TED.
  • Conditioned air (cooled or heated) is directed through ducting and distribution pads into the perforated leather/reticulated foam of the seat cushion and back, exiting through the perforations toward the occupant.
  • The opposite (waste) air stream—hot when the system is cooling the seat—is exhausted through a separate port/duct.
Installation practice (and similar Gentherm/TED systems) routes this waste exhaust under the seat or out the bottom of the seat back/cushion foam, often with a bezel or vent tube. This is done so the hot waste air does not recirculate inside a closed seat back and reduce performance.

Effect on the rear compartment

Exhaust under the front seats releases that warm air into the cabin space beneath and behind the front seats. In most vehicles this area connects to (or flows toward) the rear footwells and rear seat compartment, so some heat does enter the rear area. The volume is modest compared with the vehicle’s main HVAC system, which can generally dissipate it without major impact, but it is not zero.

In heating mode the waste side is the cooler stream, so the exhaust is cooler rather than warmer. Exact routing and any noticeable effect depend on the specific vehicle, seat design, and how the installer orients the exhaust duct. Professional installers typically aim to keep the exhaust away from direct occupant contact.

You called me Sherlock and then posted something that 100% agrees with what I said.

The difference is I was speaking as an actual back seat passenger that felt the heat dump in the back seat and not some marketing guy selling seat covers.

The vehicle I was in was a new 2017 Chevy full size with OEM seat cooling. Seat cooling was pretty new to me then and I didn’t know the truck had seat cooling. At first, I just thought the AC sucked for Houston heat. But it kept getting hotter in the back seats instead of gradually cooler as we drove to the work site.

It was a company truck in Houston during the summer. The heat dump from the seat basically felt like an impressively good heater to me in the rear seat.

This won’t matter if nobody was in the back, but I can tell you the front seat passengers were completely unaware of how hot it was.

Since you own a completely different and much newer truck and seat, you could probably drive the truck around for a bit on a hot day with the cooling on then ride in the back and provide some useful firsthand info.

Or just leave the rude comment and cut and paste marketing statement stand.

I did mine a few months back and the has double heat the factory option and the added Degresz
The cooled option works better than my 2021 F150 Platinum did not even close

Congrats! Actually thought someone resurrected my old thread because we almost got the same pattern lol. Southern heat and humidity dont play!

Yeah, saw they got combined. Since I have a Ranger Raptor I went with their stock Raptor look seats with Red accents and just added the insert as you did.
went with both heat and cooling even though I seldom need the heated seats here in Florida, but was looking ahead for resale impact if I ever let this thing go.
