Key fob malfunction

Tried to unlock my truck. Key fob wouldn’t respond. Unlocked it with the ford app. And all fine after. Anyone else experience this? I don’t think it’s a battery issue.

Agree, shouldn't be a fob battery issue at this point, but its a easy and economical process to do as verification before taking the time etc going to the dealer. Does either of the two fob's function correctly?

I had the exact same thing this morning. Red light on the fob flashed twice. Use my second fob and it worked fine. Tried the first fob an hour later and seems to work fine.

Huh weird right?! I’m glad I not the only one I guess. I was in the middle of nowhere and would have been in trouble if the app didn’t work.

Everything worked fine with the key fob after I unlocked my truck with the app. BTW these fobs take a weird battery size. CR2450. All my past Audi and BMWs took a smaller different size and I keep a few in them just in case

Sounds like you’re having a bit of a headache with the key fob. I’ve had a similar issue before, and it could be the battery running low, so try replacing that first. If that doesn’t do the trick, sometimes it’s just the fob getting out of sync with the car. You might need to reset it. It’s usually pretty easy to do, but it depends on the make and model of your car.

If that doesn’t work, you could try getting a replacement fob. I’ve had good luck with sites like https://www.carandtruckremotes.com.

FOB battery I agree. Batteries can and do fail regularly.

However, the FOB is synced with the immobilized and once they’re synchronized they don’t become in-synced.

It’s possible if the battery is not the issue with the key FOB directly. Nothing is perfect and made by man prone to failure.

If the malfunction persists, take it to the dealership and have them warranty the FOB for a new one.

FOB signal strength, is directly related to the battery strength.

Yes that happened to me today, I wouldn't think it's battery, truck is only few months old

My daughter's F150 did that because an update didn't finish. I disconnected the battery for 10 minutes and everything was fine.
