Yes it is gloss black and it has been the only one I have seen as well I really like the contrast

Mine is also gloss black in that area. I think it has to do with having the Black Appearance Package.

Here are a couple pics of my Canadian Oxford White Ranger Lariat.
Did not go with the fx4 package and so far I am loving it.
Did the good protector, window visors and also a matched tri fold tonneau cover.
Also swapped out the chrome grill and replaced it with a color matched one with new badges front and rear.
Now for the exhaust.
