Long story long, the order that I had was a stock order that I nabbed and changed the specs to my preferences. I don't trust dealers so when I changed the order I had a friend at Ford double check and all looked good. Once it went into production, the specs were switched back to the original dealer spec. I knew it was official when I saw the window sticker, I told the dealer I'm out. This was truck was being built last week (5/27/24), velocity blue with beadlocks and graphics if anyone is interested let me know. It will be delivered to NC in late June.
Since that didn't work out, I was on the hunt. Dealers around NC and the southeast in general play too many games and have markups. Of which I'm not willing to pay. I found exactly what I was looking for at a dealership in Dearborn, Village Ford. They were wonderful to work with, sold at MSRP, so I made plans to get to Dearborn from NC. Since it was grand prix weekend, I made it a father/son trip with my 8 year old. We flew up on Friday morning, picked up the truck and had one hold up. The left front was flat due to a screw. No biggie, they plugged it and gave me a few free items and we were on our way. Again, Village Ford in Dearborn was awesome to work with, no games.
They also hooked us up with Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village passes. If you are ever in the area, go to this, it's awesome! Then we made our way downtown to catch some practice sessions for Indy and Imsa, and finished up with Imsa qualifying (I love IMSA). Saturday we then drove over 9 hours (570 miles) back home. Filled up twice and ended up just under 18 mpg (a lot of cruising at 75-80). I suspect this will improve just as it did with our bronco.
The truck is absolutely awesome, love the way it drives, super comfortable. Handles fantastic, cruises at any speed comfortably, and has decent power. I look forward to enjoying this one for many years to come.
