Picked up my 2026 Avalanche Ranger Raptor

I can tell you that the Ranger Raptor is every bit as fun and engaging as the Miata. Just in a different way. Wants to be slid around in ways the Miata isn’t powerful enough to be. However, you need to recalibrate your braking foot for MUCH longer stops. Had a harrowing near rear-end incident yesterday thinking it would slow down like my cayman or former Miata. Takes about twice as much distance…no exaggeration

Yeah, that's what a couple thousand more pounds, all terrain tires and a truck based platform will do to your braking distances. It does take some getting used to.

Yes! Having moar power installed at my ford dealer this week with the performance tune.

I also ordered the Turbosmart intercooler as I’m noticing surprisingly high charge temps even with the stock tune. Must get really bad with the incremental ~8psi of boost with the tune. On my former fiesta ST the stock intercooler was basically worthless with a tune. Turbosmart seemed like the most core volume I could get without any cutting/modification.

Ford tune was installed today at my dealership. My GOODNESS it transforms the car. It is absolutely explosive the way it scrapes and claws for grip as it propels you forward from a did. What a hoot this thing is!!!!

Turbosmart intercooler coming this week and should yield more consistent, repeatable power.

I see by the license plate frame that you ordered and bought from Jones...Buckeye store? Despite our family (mostly me) buying over a dozen new vehicles there; when I first inquired about buying, the salesman assured me that their price would be no less than a couple thou over MSRP, so I never bothered getting specific. Ordered one identical to yours in Ohio from a friend of my niece for $500 over invoice, flew back, stayed a few days with family, and made a leisurely three-day drive home. ALL travel expenses included, still thousands less than buying locally. I've been a customer of the Buckeye place since 1997 and until lately, for all service work too...until they replaced the service mgr. and my go-to advisor.
