Rampart Range Reservoir Camp Trip

Four nights enjoying Rampart Reservoir, that rests on a granite plateau at 9000 ft of elevation, about 10 miles northwest of Colorado Springs and 4 miles east of Woodland Park.

Fishing, hiking, fireside tales and enjoying the outdoors.

There are two campgrounds, one on each ridge separated by a valley. One morning, our camp hosts informed us of a bear sow and cub, two mountain lion sightings at the other campground. Asked us if we had seen the critters. Replied “no” and added, “they must taste better over there”.

I'm sure we might be cooler than Texas, but front range (cities) are expected to be in high 90's. Seek altitude. Enjoy the trip.....where you going?

Vallecito, which is Spanish for "little valley,". Enjoy....should have good weather as it has been cooler, but the afternoon thunder showers (typical) have been frequent. With higher temps, supposed to be drier...here fishy fishy.

I used to live in Woodland Park CO and visited the Rampart Range Reservoir several times. They used to ice fish there in the winters. I miss Colorado.... <sigh>

It was great, truck did some cool 4x4 things. On my way back home today. I plan to make a post about my trip in the near future.
