I have had my Ranger Raptor for coming up on 2 months now with 1700 miles on the clock. Something has existed since it was new and that is what I can only describe as a very slight rough idle.

Periodically when idling you get an unusual vibration through the engine which can be felt in the cabin and you can see the RPM hand dip slightly and come back up. It's a very small change but can be felt.

Initially I thought it was the petrol I was using but I've switched 3 times (two brands of 95RON and one brand of 97RON) which has made no difference. I also thought maybe it was the cold but the weather is now much warmer and it still exists. It also happens both when the engine is cold and when it is warmed up.

I've never had an engine do that before except for an old diesel Renault that had it's timing belt replaced with the timing slightly off. Has anyone else noticed this? Perhaps it's normal with a V6?

My wife had a 2017 Subaru Forester that kind of did the same thing. When you would slow down coming to a stop and right before it idles, it would vibrate the car, like the car was choking. I did some research, and people on forums experience the same issue, which was related to a bad fuel pump, essentially starving the engine. The fuel pump job isn't cheap, I think people paid 2-3 grand for the job if I could remember.

Since the car was out of warranty and used car prices were skyrocketing, we didn't stick around to find out and sold it. Hopefully this points you in the right direction.

It does seem like there may be an issue with the engine idle of your Ranger. While some slight vibrations may be normal, it should not cause a noticeable dip in RPM and be felt in the cabin. It is always better to err on the side of caution and have the issue checked by a qualified mechanic or service center. They can diagnose the issue and determine if it is a minor issue or something that requires more attention.
