Some how my phone number and email has been sold by somebody to all these extended warranty companies and I get emails and text messages to extend my warranty on my Ranger.

I just got this text message:
August, regarding your 2024 Ford Ranger: CoverageX has not received a decline or acceptance of protection. Call 1-833-365-XXXX

Then I found this article:
States collect millions by selling drivers’ data to private investigators, data brokers
https://www.investigatetv.com/2025/...vers-data-private-investigators-data-brokers/

I'm going to contact some state politicians on getting this stopped

I'm not sure if its all, but I know a lot of state DMVs are engaged in selling driver data. There was a bit of an uproar about it last year here in Oregon but I'm sure nothing will change. Due to the nature of my job I'm allowed to have my drivers license and vehicles registered to my work address instead of my home address. For those of you who don't have the privilege of doing so and have a desire to maintain privacy - I refer you to Michael Bazzell's book Extreme Privacy: What it Takes to Disappear. Here is the first page of the chapter regarding private vehicles.

Some of the techniques in his book are quite extreme. I tend to use his suggestions as guiderails to form my own techniques that are more practical for my situation.
