Greetings 6G'ers,

I just picked up my 6G Ranger today, coming from the 5G world. My 2019 STX FX4 was totalled during a snow storm a couple of weeks ago (nobody got hurt). So I am starting on the 6G journey here! So far I was able to transplant my Gator tri-fold tonneau cover and 3/4 of my weathertech mats (front driver latch lugs are in the wrong place! I also rescued a swing-out bed box from my 5G Ranger and I need to modify the hinge mount plate for it to work on the new truck. Patiently waiting for my forscan license to finish tweaking my new truck.

Some of the new features, or lack there of bug me and most I like; one that bugs me is the lack of a physical owners manual, can't disable autolock without forscan, no real gauges (glass cockpit...oooohhhh!), not able to get FX4 trim on STX (or sliding rear window), and that retarded electric parking brake switch....motherf'er one more thing to break. Bad enough we can't get these trucks with a manual tranny.

OK, done with my old man rant. The good-they fixed the 10R80 shift pattern, I like that manual mode is more responsive (less shift delay) from the previous gen; I like the standard sunglass cubby overhead, but the engine bay looks like they forgot to put inner fenders. It looks way less crammed in there and also like that they moved the alternator away from the bottom of the truck. Enough ranting. Will post some pics later

the transmission is a 10r60 i believe
the newer model are about 2 inches wider and 2 inches longer, the 2.7 v-6 is a option now, thats why there is so much room under the hood

Great looking truck! The gray looks great. I just purchased a 2024 XLT FX4 last week. My first "Ranger" was actually a 1994 Mazda. I loved that truck! In between, I've driven 2 Silverados, but I wanted a mid-size again. So far, I love my new truck!

Wow! they put running boards on the FX4 package? Kinda kills your break-over angle doesn't it?. Truck looks nice with those wheels though.

Upgrades so far:
-Black leather steering wheel cover from Stitchingcovers.com....very nice OEM like but a bear to put on.
-Muslogy mud/splash guards
-Ford swing-out cargo box (to be installed, bought with fordpass points)

-Weathertech mats front and rear (transplants from my 5G)
-Gator trifold soft tonneau cover (with some minor mods to bed rail covers)

Coming soon: Spray-on bed liner....

As we can see from the pictures, the front floor pans are different between the 5G and 6G, so i will probably order me some newer, betterfitting weathertech mats for the front. The rear ones fit fine. Ordered me some Raptor spray-on bedliner; had great results with it in my previous Ranger. Also coming are hood struts...got spoiled with those on my 2019 and I can't believe that Ford discontinued those in the newer models...to save what? $50 and 5 minutes of shop time to install them?

What I'm looking for-and I can't seem to find any aftermarket options for- is 1) a 12 volt power point for the bed, and bed lights. There is an almost $300 option on ford accessories.com but I'd rather get the OEM ones that fit in the small plastic rectangular inserts in the middle of the bed. Those I can find on fordpartsonline but I don't see any ready to plug inserts in the wiring harness. Has anyone tried to retrofit these lights to existing STX's without bed lights? Am I better off with the $300 doo-dads from Accessories (levittown ford sells them for slightly less)?

That's where I am so far with mods on the new truck. Need to figure out disabling A.S.S. and the autolock feature. That's all for now

Autolock feature disabled...bambi mode on, compass enabled on cluster, TPMS display PSI and temperature! Couldn't find an option to turn on outside temperature display in the cluster.

Is your steering wheel leather wrapped? Did you do that? Mine is plastic with tiny nubs all the way around for some grip. I am going to wrap it sometime because it feels very cheap

Is the compass display just the initials of the direction or does it show a compass face? I've got the direction initials already but would like the compass face.
